Being Green +Giveaway

You may not know this about me, but I am very into preserving the environment and reducing our impact in any way we can.

Todo lo que se puede reciclar!
An event we went in LA, they show all you CAN recycle

I love to recycle (although I now know it helps very little and we need to do more like not buying so many plastics, reusing what we've got and much more) and I believe in using natural products in almost all ways I can. I say almost because as I do try to use natural products I know I don't do this 100% in every part of my life, yes it's hard, yes we're used to using disposable stuff instead of reusing, and products are so cool and companies keep coming up with the most wonderful designs and marketing that it's hard to resist! As you can see, design drives me sometimes more than being green!

I've been keeping an eye on the cleaners, I don't buy many cleaners for the house, I do a lot with white vinegar and baking soda and I did see the new line that Clorox has had for a while now: Green Works, they are made using plant-based ingredients derived from coconuts, as well as essential oils. They are formulated using biodegradable ingredients, are packaged in bottles that can be recycled and not tested on animals.

So I first tried the toilet cleaner, I felt it was so hard to find a good not-so-strong cleaner that really worked. And Green Works worked pretty well!! I love it and I love how it smells.
The BEST part when I bought this product was the ingredient list. Just 7 ingredients! No bleach!

Just now I tried the bathroom spray cleaner and I love it too! The smell is the same and the ingredient list is still very short, only 4 plant-based, biodegradable ingredients. Plus it just got Certified by the Natural Products Association, for those of you interested, this is what they evaluate:
*Natural Ingredients: A product labeled "natural" should be made up of only, or at least almost only, natural ingredients and be manufactured with appropriate processes.
*Safety: A product labeled "natural" should avoid any ingredient that has peer-reviewed, scientific research showing human health or environmental risk.
*Responsibility: A product labeled "natural" should use no animal testing in its development except where required by law.
*Sustainability: A product labeled "natural" should use biodegradable ingredients and the most environmentally sensitive packaging.

The fun part is that Clorox Green Works offered to do a giveaway of the bathroom cleaner so one of you can try it too (if you haven't already)!! PLUS a beautiful bathroom set  and cleaning gloves!! Pretty cool right?!

Here is what you need to do to enter the Giveaway:
*Leave a comment on this post saying in which ways you try and be green, let's talk about this!! Make sure to include your e-mail address!

Extra entries:
1. Follow me on twitter @darielacruz
2. Tweet about this giveaway including my handle @darielacruz and come back here and let me know you tweeted. Tweet every day for extra entries.

Giveaway ends Thursday July 22nd, 2010, 11pm PST. Giveaway is US only.

Note: I was not payed to write this post, I received Green Works cleaner to facilitate the review, all opinions are mine only.
