Last October Disney invited me and other moms to experience many of the Walt Disney World Florida park’s features which of course are MANY, so I will be telling you in separate posts.
BUT Before I tell you all about Downtown Disney’s Hot Air Balloon ride today and since this is the romantic month of the year I want to tell you a personal story about Hot Air Balloons because whenever I see a Hot Air balloon first thing that comes to mind is this story that happened several years ago…
Derek and me were at a corporate Holiday party, those parties were they raffle lots of prizes for the employees and family members that attend. Among other prizes, they were raffling a ROMANTIC Hot Air Balloon ride with champagne and an iPod. Everybody was excited for the iPod, it was the BIG prize. All you had to do is play some games and win some tickets, you could then choose to place those tickets in the different labeled PRIZE JARS and they would pick a winner from each jar..
My husband lindo won lots of tickets and he was the one in charge of placing the tickets in any PRIZE JAR he wanted. He did it and then came back and said all excited I put all of our tickets to that one jar!! I thought COOL! The iPod right? (This was long time ago so the iPod was something very new that not everyone had) He said: NO! The Hot Air Balloon ride!! Imagine how nice would that be? You and me, very romantic, it’s probably so beautiful!
I didn’t have words! He was thinking about us in a romantic setting and I was thinking about a device! We still haven’t done that but I’m sure we will fly in a Hot Air Balloon someday and meanwhile just the thought is very romantic for me.
Now let’s go back to Downtown Disney’s ride, it’s a short ride but it’s breathtaking and fun.
I loved the view of the park and the lagoon, the Balloon goes up 400 ft and stays there so you can enjoy the view and then comes down, it’s called “Characters in Flight”. I really recommend it, it’s a nice experience and for the whole family and it can be romantic!
After this you can go walk around the Downtown Disney area and have a nice dinner at one of the many restaurants they have right there.
The Disney crew took us to dinner at Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s Bongo’s Cuban Café, this place is called café but it is a full restaurant and bar with delicious food and drinks from Cuba plus there is live music and dancing!!

I really liked it, we didn’t have much chance to stay and dance but we had time for Mojitos, flan and of course the cafecito. I can’t forget the Trío that serenated us, it’s a great set-up for a perfect night. You know, Cuban culture is very similar to ours (Disregard politics at the moment!), I always feel like at home with their food, drinks and music, we are both Caribbean!

En Octubre del año pasado Disney me invitó junto con otras mamás a Walt Disney World en Florida para que viviera en persona la gran cantidad de atracciones que tienen, y ya que so una GRAN CANTIDAD, les estaré contando en diferentes posts.
PERO, antes de empezar con la atracción del globo aereo de Downtown Disney, ya que estamos en el mes más romántico del año, hoy les quiero contar una historia personal que siempre me viene a la mente cuando veo globos aereos y que pasó hace ya varios años atrás…
Resulta que Derek y yo estábamos ne una fiesta de Navidad coorporativa, de esas en las que hacen bastantes rifas con muchos premios para los empleados y familiares que van. Entre muchos otros premios, estaban rifando un paseo en globo romántico con champaña y también un iPod. Todos estábamos emocionados por el iPod, era el premio MAYOR!
Lo que había que hacer era participar en unos juegos y te ganabas tickets, luego esos tickets los podías meter en cada frasco correspondiente al premio que querías y de ahí rifaban.
Mi esposo lindo ganó muchos tickets y el fué el encargado de poner los tickets en los frascos que el quisiera. Así lo hizo sin yo ver nada y regresó y me dijo emocionado: Metí todos los tickets en el MEJOR frasco! Yo pensé Chévere, el iPOD no? (Esto sucedió hace añales cuando el iPod era algo bien nuevo y todo el mundo quería uno) Entonces el dijo: NO! El frasco del paseo en globo aereo! Imagínate que divino sería, tu y yo, bien romántico, sería espectacular!
Yo me quedé boquiabierta o mejor dicho, boquicerrada! No tenía palabras, el pensando en un viaje romántico conmingo y yo en un aparato! La verdad que todavía no hemos hecho un paseo en globo pero estoy segura de que lo haremos algún día, pero mientras, sólo el hecho de lo quería tanto, es bastante romántico para mi!
Pero bueno, regresemos al globo de Downtown Disney, es una atracción corta pero impresionante y divertida. La vista que puedes apreciar de todo Disney es espectacular. El globo sube 400 pies y se queda allí por un rato para que disfrutes de la vista, se llama “Characters in Flight”. De verdad lo recomiendo mucho, es una experiencia linda y puede ser para toda la familia sin dejar de ser romántica!
Después de esta atracción también hay la facilidad de caminar por todo downtown y cenar en uno de los restaurantes que están ahí mismo.
La gente de Disney nos llevó al restaurant de Gloria y Emilio Estefan que se llama Bongo’s Cuban Café, dice llamarse Café pero es un restaurante y bar completo, con comida cubana excelente y además música en vivo y baile!

A mi me encantó, no tuvimos mucho chance de quedarnos a bailar pero si comimos muy rico, tomamos Mojitos, comimos flan y tomamos cafecito. No se puede olvidar el trío que nos dió serenata porsupuesto, lo disfruté mucho todo y es que la cultura cubana es muy parecida a la venezolana (No tomen en cuenta la política en estos momentos plis!), siempre me siento como en casa con la música, la comida y la bebida cubana, es que somos paises caribeños!
Ahora diganme, alguno de ustedes tiene algún cuento de Globos Aéreos? Han ido al globo de Downtown Disney? Cuéntenme plis!
