I’ve had a
Pin in Pinterest for the longest time that I love, it comes from
Baby Black Bird, she made this beautiful art piece with the kids. I was very inspired and started with the same idea but did a few twists to it, we did it as a present for my sister’s birthday last week. I loved how it turned out and it is really really easy!
1. I got some acrylic paints in a combination of colors I like, not too many, 4 at the most.
2. I got a a set of 4 canvases, initially I was going to get a big one but these came wrapped all together as if you can use them this way and thought it was more fun instead of just one, that way both of the kids could have 2 to color each.
3. You’ll also need
brushes and
stencils for the words (which I already had). I got everything at Michael’s.

Desde hace mucho tiempo que tenía
este Pin en Pinterest que me pareció una idea excelente, la idea original es de
Baby Black Bird, ella hizo una pintura con sus hijos muy bonita. Yo me inspiré mucho en ella y la hice con los niños pero con unos pequeños cambios. Se lo hicimos a mi hermana que cumplió años la semana pasada. Me encantó como salió y es super fácil!
1. Compré una combinación de colores que me gustó en pinturas acrílicas, no muchos, máximo 4.
2. Compré 4 cuadritos (lienzos). Primero pensé en comprar uno grandote pero cuando vi estos que venían juntos me pareció mucho mejor y así los niños podían pintar 2 cada uno sin pelearse.
3. También necesitarán pinceles y plantillas para hacer las palabras (yo ya las tenía). Todo lo compré en Michael’s.
4. Because I get nervous that they would ruin the canvases, I made sure they practice in paper, the trick was
giving them the colors one by one so it wouldn’t start to get muddy. After I saw there was enough of one color I immediately switched to another one, sometimes with another brush too.

4. Ya que soy muy nerviosa de que todo quede bien, les di un papel primero para probar que tal no vaya a ser que echaran a perder los lienzos. El truco estuvo en darle los colores uno por uno para controlar la cantidad, una vez que vi que habían pintado bastante con un color les daba el otro y a veces hasta con otro pincel para evitar que se convirtiera en marrón todo.
5. Let them have fun! They both loved it so much, Maya did not want to stop and started putting paint in her hands and painting with her hands and then adrian did the same thing. I made sure to supervise the whole thing, add more paint when needed and clean brushes.

5. Déjalos que se diviertan! A los dos les encantó tanto, Maya no quería dejar de pintar y empezó a poner pintura en sus manos y a pintar los cuadritos con las manos, Adri hizo lo mismo. Yo me aseguré de supervisar y asegurarme de cambiarles las pinturas y limpiar pinceles cuadno se necesitaba.

The original idea had vinyl letters before the paint so then the message would appear. Well, I didn’t have a chance to get vinyl words plus it was too little for these. So I decided I could do 4 small words that my sister would like with some stencils I have (They are from the
Martha Stewart adhesive stencils line).

La idea original es con letras de vinil autoadhesivo que se les ponen antes de la pintura para luego pelarlas y que se vean blancas pero yo no tuve tiempo de mandar a hacer las palabras y además estos cuadritos son muy chiquitos para eso. Así que decidí escribir 4 palabras que a mi hermana le gustaría con platillas de letra que ya tenía (Son de la línea de
plantillas adhesivas de Martha Stewart).
7. All done! I can’t wait to see where my sister hanged them, they look much nicer in real life than in these pictures by the way. The texture of the paint is very cool. I think I will probably make more of these with different color combinations later for presents, it’s a great present for any occasion, plus it’s done by the kids which makes it priceless!!

7. Listo! Ya quiero ver donde los colgó mi hermana, por cierto en la vida real se ven mucho más bonitos que en estas fotos porque se puede apreciar la textura de la pintura. Creo que haré más de estos con diferente combinación de colores para regalos. La verdad sirven para cualquier ocación y el hecho de que los niños lo hicieron no tiene precio!
