LeaLA – The book fair and the books we got

As I told you the other day, the first Spanish language book fair called LéaLA was held in Los Angeles and we went. Here are some pictures and little things I wanted to share about the event.

We went on Friday which was the very first day of the fair and there were no kids activities planned that day (Theater, book readings. etc) but Adrian had lots of fun and he was really well behaved.

My mom is holding Rómulo Gallegos’ book called Doña Bárbara. He is a very famous Venezuelan writer, I actually don’t like his books but many people do. He is very descriptive and stays for long hours or many pages I shall say describing one scene with no action, I’m a little impatient so I pass. The books on the right were from a colorful booth, very eye catching designs!

In a big open space they had all the columns decorated with these graphics and the guests were able to write their favorite Spanish word! Cool! Which one do you think was mine? (Look to the right of the girl that’s writing!)

And here is what we got! I’ve never read Isabel Allende before so I asked around and this one seems to be something I will like. I love novels, drama and mystery in case you are wondering 🙂 I don’t read as much as I would like so this was a good opportunity for me to get a new book in Spanish and hopefully read more! Adrian picked these 2 with my help, they are awesome! And he already loves books but I know that if he sees me reading and enjoying these fairs he’ll love it even more.

Oh, and if you are wondering about Maya, she didn’t come, it was Adrian alone time but you’ll see Maya reading in a picture soon 🙂

Y aquí están los libros que compramos ese día. Yo nunca he leido nada de Isabel Allende así que pregunté y parece ser que este me va a gustar. Por si se están preguntando que me gusta a mi, a mi me gustan mucho las novelas con drama y de misterio también, yo no leo tanto como me gustaría así que comprar este libro me pareció una buena oportunidad para tener algo nuevo en español y leer más. Adrian escogió estos 2 con mi ayuda porsupuesto, son bellísimos! Y a el ya le gustan mucho los libros pero se que vi´ndome a mi disfrutar de estas ferias y viéndome leer a él le va a emocionar muchísimo más.
Ah y si se han preguntado por Maya, ella no fué, porque fué tiempo para estar con Adrian solo y ya verán a la Mayita leyendo en una foto dentro de muy poquito 🙂
