One of the life lessons I want the kids to really learn is about the world we live in. I want them to understand how we are all so different depending where we come from and or life experiences but at the same time that we are all the same and that we all belong to each other. I want them to grow up being almost like a citizen of the world, and that they understand how I was born in Venezuela and then lived in Mexico and then in the USA where I married their dad and because of that we are now a multi-cultural family, that is something very IMPORTANT for us.
So when I heard about Little Passports I immediately loved it. Little Passports is a monthly subscription service that teaches kids about different countries and cultures from all over the world with fun souvenirs, photos and activities (This is the world edition, there is also a USA edition). Sofia and Sam are the main characters and they are the ones sending explorer kits by snail mail every month. This makes my multicultural teaching easier ♥.
The first package you get comes with:
- A little suitcase to save all your stuff
- A luggage tag
- A passport
- An activity sheet
- Stickers
- A huge world map
- A photo of Sam and Sofia
It’s made for kids ages 5-10, Adrian is in the perfect age to start using it since he can read and write and understand what’s going on. Some of the activities in the sheet were hard for him but there was a variety of content to keep him entertained. I mean, I didn’t realize he didn’t know what a passport is yet! I loved how he learned to say Hello in different languages (watch the video below!).
After they get the first package they will get a the next packages once a month with a different country every month showing where Sofia and Sam traveled. They write a letter about their experiences and the places they visited and send fun souvenirs.
Little Passports monthly packages include:
- Country luggage tag
- Country sticker
- Passport “stamp”
- Country pin to place on the map
- Activity sheet
- A photo
