I’ve heard so much about the
San Diego County Fair (or famously known as Del Mar Fair) since
we moved and finally we were able to go, we went the last day but we made it! There are no Fairs ever this big in Venezuela, I’ve never experienced something like it, it was really exciting!
You would think I lived under a rock but it’s true and as soon as we entered I kept started telling Derek how much fun it was, I guess I felt I was in Disneyland for the first time, LOL! I was the third child of the family that day!
We tried to get their early to not have trouble with parking and it worked, we parked on parking outside of the fairgrounds where they take you in a bus and it was perfect, no traffic, easy peasy, we got there around 10:30 am.
At that time all the food was ready and the smells were amazing and the place was easy to walk-by, but later on when there were hundreds of people that you almost couldn’t even walk it got crazy! I had heard about the crazy food they sell and sure wanted to try some, but only looking at all the food places was cool already, I mean: Bacon with everything, fried everything, waffle dogs and so much more (see the photos in the post)!
I didn’t know about the tent with products, it’s like stepping into lots of TV infomercials, I wanted to buy everything but I couldn’t, there was great coffee, some cool cleaners, kitchen supplies, we didn’t go through all of them because there were so many!
But the first thing we did was go find entertainment for the kiddos, there was a farm-like area where they fed the animals and started having fun. Then there was the kids area, wow, that was fun, I actually wanted to go in all those rides but the kids didn’t, they were kind of scared of a lot of them but they had fun on the ones that they rode. You have to buy tickets for the rides once inside the Fair so all in all it adds up, we had a budget to stick to and the they rode about 4 rides only, we didn’t ride any of the adult’s ride and that was fine because a lot of them were crazy, I’m too old for that!
The one ride I really wanted to ride was the flying chairs one, it is my favorite ride at Carnivals and it said that this one specifically was originally the one from Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch (scroll down for the photo)!
One thing I wanted was more shade and sitting areas, they sure don’t want you to sit around cause there was barely any areas for that. It was hard to sit for lunch or just to rest. Even though we were tired we made the most out of our stay, we left the Fair around 6pm! A super full day!!

Creerán que soy medio ignorante pero es que es verdad, desde que entramos le empecé a decir a Derek que qué emoción, que estaba buenísimo todo hasta que salimos, me sentía como una niñita visitando a Disneylandia por primera vez, jajaja! Era como la tercera niña de la familia ese día!
Tratamos de llegar temprano para no tener problemas con el tráfico porque se arman unas colas enormes ahí para entrar, nos paramos en un estacionamiento lejos que ellos tienen y te llevan en un autobús a la feria y funcionó perfecto, no hubo tráfico, todo tranquilo y estábamos entrando como a las 10:30 am.
Ya para esa hora todos los lugares de comida estaban listos y olían buenísimo, se podía caminar tranquilamente, pero después más tarde a la hora del almuerzo todo estaba super full, casi ni se podía caminar de tanta gente, que locura! Yo había escuchado mucho acerca del tipo de comida que ofrecen las ferias, muchas de las cuales son extremas y locas y quería ver con mis propios ojos y a lo mejor probar, pero con tan sólo ver disfruté: Hay casi todo con tocineta, hasta al chocolate le ponen tocineta! Muchas comidas fritas, perros calientes de waffles, etc, etc (vean las fotos que pongo)!
Yo no sabía que también tenían unos lugares donde es como una exposición con muchísimos stands y venden de todo tipo de productos, más que todo productos tipo “As Seen on TV”, de los que venden en televisión, hay personas demonstrándolos y todo, la verdad provocaba comprar de todo, café, limpiadores para la casa, ollas, aparatos para la cocina y más. No los vimos todos, pero es que tan grande!
Pero lo primero que hicimos fué ir a los juegos de niños, encontramos un sitio donde habían animales de granja y los niñitos le dieron de comer a las cabras y vieron muchos animales. Luego fuimos a los juegos mecánicos, super chévere. Yo me quería montar también! Pero a ellos les daba miedo muchos de los juegos aunque claro que se montaron en los que si les gustaban. Allí hay que pagar por cada juego que se querían meter y nosotros fuimos con cierto presupuesto así que sólo se montaron en 4 o 5 juegos. Nosotros no nos montamos en ninguno ni de los de adultos, pero la verdad yo me siento vieja para eso, muchos me dan miedo ya!
El que más me quería montar era el de la sillitas voladoras, ese me gusta mucho y me trae recuerdos y este que estaba ahí decía que era el de Michael Jackson de su rancho en Neverland (vean la foto arriba en el post)!
Una de las cosas que me hacía falta fué más sombra y más lugares para sentarse, se ve que no quieren que uno se siente mucho porque hasta para comer fué super dificil encontrar lugar. Y aunque nos cansamos muchísimo nos divertimos bastante y le sacamos el jugo al día, nos salimos como a las 6 de la tarde! El día entero en la feria!
