As parents, Derek and me do divide a lot our chores around the house and with the kids, sometimes I take care of the routine at night while he does dishes and sometimes he does the routine with the kids.
Same goes for when I travel or if I have an event to go to and I’m unable to take the kids to school or get the kids ready, he does it, no problem. Normally, I’m the one that does Maya’s hair, and initially when he had to do her hair by himself he was a little intimidated but little by little he’s gotten use to it.
I asked him if he was up for the challenge of taking over and crating a hairstyle for Maya by himself to post on the blog and he said yes. He did clarify: but don’t expect nothing so complicated!
Hey, it’s fine! I find it so nice that he combs and untangles her hair, he does send her out looking neatly put together when I’m not around.
The routine for the kid’s hair is easy if you use our favorite products Johnson’s No More Tangles.
3 Easy Steps
- The kids wash their hair at night with the Johnson’s shampoo.
- Then in the morning before the hairstyle Daddy applied the Johnson’s No More Tangles Leave In Conditioner.
- And to make it even easier he applies the final step: The Johnson’s No More Tangles Detangling Spray.
The Ponytail
Derek decided to make one ponytail, he actually wanted to make pigtails but it was harder to divide the hair for him.
The trick for making the ponytail easy is to follow the hair’s natural partition. Maya’s hair goes naturally to ones side so he left it that way, he used a brush and a comb to untangle her hair. He also kept her busy by letting her pick and choose and play with all the hair accessories meanwhile he was working.
Use an elastic ponytail wrapped around at least 2 times (this takes practice for some Daddies!).
Add a nice bow on top and it’s done!
I loved seeing the interaction between them for this challenge, Maya was proud that Daddy did her ponytail and I think Daddy was super proud too!

Como padres, Derek y yo nos dividimos casi todas nuestras tareas de la casa y con los niños, a veces yo me encargo de la rutina en la noche mientras que el lava los platos y a veces el hace la rutina con los niños por ejemplo.
Lo mismo para cuando viajo o si tengo algún evento y no puedo llevar a los niños a la escuela o alistarlos, él lo hace, no hay problema. Normalmente, yo soy la que peina a Mayita, y en un principio cuando el se lo tenía que peinar estaba un poco intimidado, pero poco a poco se ha acostumbrado.
Yo le pregunté si estaba dispuesto a este reto de hacerle un peinado a Maya él solo para ponerlo aquí en el blog y me dijo que sí. Pero me aclaró: ¡No esperes que sea nada tan complicado!
¡Está bien! A mi me parece muy chévere que le peine y desenrede el cabello, y se que cuando yo no estoy la envía peinadita y arregladita.
La rutina para el cabello de los niños es fácil si usan nuestros productos favoritos de Johnson No More Tangles
3 pasos sencillos
- Los niños se lavan el cabello con champú Johnson’s en la noche.
- Luego, en la mañana antes del peinado papá le aplica el acondicionador sin enjuague de Johnson’s No More Tangles.
- Y para hacerlo aún más fácil se aplica el paso final: El spray desenredante Johnson’s No More Tangles.
La colita
Derek decidió hacerle una colita, en realidad quería hacer 2 colitas pero se le hizo dificil dividir el cabello en dos.
El truco para hacer la cola de caballo fácil es seguir la partición natural del cabello. El cabello de Maya se parte naturalmente de un lado por lo que lo dejó de esa manera en vez de agarrarlo todo hacia atrás. Usó cepillo y peine para desenredarlo. También mantenía a Mayita ocupada dejándola escoger y jugar con todos los accesorios para el cabello mientras que el se concentraba en su peinado.
Usa una goma elástica para colitas y dale vuelta al menos 2 veces (esto requiere de práctica para algunos papás!).
Añade un lazo grande en la parte de arriba de la colita ¡y listo!
Me encantó ver la interacción entre ellos para este desafío, Maya estaba orgullosa de que el papá le hizo su colita y creo que papá estaba super orgulloso también!
