I love to find sales anywhere, I am a bargain shopper, I admit it! One of the places I love to shop is at thrift stores, for anything from furniture to clothes. So when I learned I could do a Kids on 45th Review I was in all the way!

Let me explain how this is a new way to shop kid’s clothes: It’s a box of secondhand clothes tailored for your child. You decide how much to spend and when do you want it. You don’t have to subscribe, meaning you don’t have to receive one every week or every month, you just order it whenever you need it.

What I like the most about this is the fact that it is secondhand clothing and it does cost about the same as in a thrift store. And I know for a fact that it is pretty hard to find good kids clothes in a thrift store!

Ok, so Kids on 45th gave me my first “box” of clothes for Adrian and Maya and I am sharing all the process details here:

• The first thing you need to do is make a profile for each of your kids, they ask you their size, color preferences, likes, dislikes, etc.
• Then you choose the type of clothes you want, maybe bottoms, non-sleeve shirts, sweaters, and so on. You have to choose a minimum of 10 items.
• This is what I chose for Adrian: Long sleeve shirt x 1 ($2.99) -Athletic Pants x 1 ($5.99) -Jeans / Pants x 1 ($5.79) -Tank top x 1 ($4.49) -Short sleeve shirt x 1 ($4.99)
• This is what I chose for Maya: Sweater/Sweatshirt x 1 ($5.99) –NewBrand New Shorts x 1 ($8.00) –NewBrand New Tank Top x 1 ($5.49)
• Because it is secondhand clothing, sometimes they will say that there isn’t a specific item available, for example when I ordered, there weren’t short-sleeve shirts available for Adrian so they didn’t charge me for that.
• The box arrives pretty quick with your order, now if you don’t like something they don’t necessarily take it back, they might discount it from what you paid and they ask you to pass it on or donate it which I think is great (but I do have more thoughts about this, see below*).

I had tried Stitch Fix right before I got this box and I loved it but I thought the prices were too high. Kids on 45th prices are very accessible and the quality and state of clothes are great.

I didn’t like what they sent for Adrian’s clothes though, they were in great shape but it’s just not what I would choose for him, not his style at all.

It might work better for girls and toddlers. For boys in general, there is always less variety to choose from and with secondhand clothes plus a 12 y/o I think it gets even trickier, so I will have to play around with the style profile I made so that I get better ones for next time.

*I would love it if they had a more style-specific questionnaire after the delivery. They do ask about the quality like if there are any holes, stains or tears but nothing about the looks so I would appreciate more focus on style because after the price I do look for a cool and stylish piece at the thrift store and wouldn’t mind returning it so they send me a piece I do love.

With this kind of services, I think it gets better after the third round so if you like it and can keep ordering a couple more times I would try that! I try it again in hopes that I like the clothes more but I do have to say that going to the thrift store and finding the clothes myself is something I enjoy a lot so not sure if I would do this box so often.

If you love to shop secondhand and have little ones maybe toddlers until 10 y/o I would totally go for it!! I see their Insta feed and love so many of the styles on little ones!

RESEÑA DE KIDS ON 45TH: UNA NUEVA MANERA DE COMPRAR ROPA DE NIÑOS

A mi me fascina encontrar ofertas cuando compro, soy una “bargain shopper” como dicen en inglés, ¡lo admito! Uno de los lugares que me encanta comprar es en tiendas de segunda mano, compro desde muebles hasta ropa. Así que cuando supe que podía hacer una reseña de Kids on 45th dije, claaaaro!

Les explico cómo esta es una nueva forma de comprar ropa para niños: Consiste en una caja de ropa de segunda mano diseñada para tu hijo o hija. Ustedes deciden cuánto gastar y cuándo la quieren. No tienen que suscribirse, lo que significa que no tienen que recibir una cada semana o cada mes, solo tienen que pedirla cuando ustedes decidan.

Lo que más me gusta de esto es el hecho de que es ropa de segunda mano en muy buen estado y cuesta casi lo mismo que en una tienda de segunda mano. ¡Y sé con certeza que es bastante difícil encontrar buena ropa para niños en una tienda de segunda mano!

Ok, Kids on 45th me mandó mi primera “caja” de ropa para Adrián y Maya y aquí les cuento todo el proceso con detalles:

• Lo primero que hay que hacer es un perfil para cada uno de los hijos, preguntan la talla, preferencias de color, lo que le gusta, lo que no le gusta, etc.
• Después, hay que elegir el tipo de ropa que quieres pedir, tal vez pantalones, camisas sin manga, suéteres, etc. Tienes que elegir un mínimo de 10 artículos.
• Esto fue lo que elegí para Adrian: Camisa de manga larga x 1 ($ 2.99) -Pantalones deportivos x 1 ($ 5.99) -Jeans o Pantalones x 1 ($ 5.79) -Camisa sin mangas x 1 ($ 4.49) -Camisa de manga corta x 1 ($ 4.99)
• Esto fue lo que elegí para Maya: suéter o sudadera x 1 ($ 5.99) -Shores nuevos x 1 ($ 8.00) -Camisa sin mangas nueva x 1 ($ 5.49)
• Debido a que es ropa de segunda mano, a veces dirán que no hay un artículo en específico disponible, por ejemplo, cuando yo ordené, no había camisas de manga corta disponibles para Adrian, por lo que no me cobraron por eso.
• La caja llega bastante rápido con el pedido, ahora, si no les gusta algo, no lo devuelves, podrían descontarlo de lo que se pagó si les dices y te piden que lo regales o lo dones, lo que creo que está bien (peeero tengo más opiniones al respecto, lean más abajo*).

Justo antes de haber probado Kids on 45th había probado Stitch Fix y me encantó, pero pensé que los precios eran demasiado altos. Los precios de Kids on 45th son muy accesibles y la calidad y el estado de la ropa son excelentes.

Lo único es que no me gustó lo que enviaron para Adrian, estaban en buenas condiciones, pero no es lo que elegiría para él, ni su estilo en lo absoluto.

Me parece que podría funcionar mejor para niñas y niños más pequeños. Para los varones en general siempre hay menos variedad para elegir y con ropa de segunda mano y además un niño de 12 años, creo que se vuelve aún más complicado, así que tendré que acomodar el perfil de estilo de Adri y agregarle más detalles  para obtener artículos que me gusten más para el próximo pedido.

* Me encantaría que tuvieran un cuestionario más específico del estilo de cada pieza después de que a uno le llega. Preguntan sobre la calidad, de si tienen huecos, manchas o rasgaduras, pero nada sobre el aspecto o estilo de la ropa, por lo que agradecería que se concentraran más en eso, yo busco precios baratos pero si me importa que la ropa sea chévere y si me gustaría poder devolverlas para que me renviaran otras que se adapten mejor.

Con este tipo de servicios, creo que todo mejora después de la tercera ronda, así que si les gusta la idea y pueden seguir pidiendo un par de veces más, ¡inténtelo! ¡Yo a lo mejor lo intento de nuevo y espero que me guste más lo que me llega pero la verdad es que disfruto tanto de ir a las tiendas de segunda mano y encontrar yo misma los tesoros de ropa jaja que no se si pediría esta caja muy a menudo.
