I took note of Niki’s work for the first time when I visited the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla, they have a couple of Niki de Saint Phalle sculptures there in the garden.
I noticed her work because it is super colorful, it reminds me of Gaudí, which she mentions did inspire her work. And little did I know I had seen her work before in San Diego, like the famous Nikigator in Balboa Park, which I told you about and this huge amazing one!
There is a lot of Niki De Saint Phalle’s art in San Diego because she lived here for the last years of her life.
