I love my coffee on ice! Yes I do, and you might already know this about me as I talked about it here long time ago.
Well, several months ago when the weather was warm and everybody else was drinking iced lattes I got invited to an event by Got Milk to learn more tips for making iced lattes, how cool is that? For me it was perfect! It also involved the kids so I was able to take Adrian, they did lots of artsy projects cause it was in an children’s Art Studio location. Can I say that it was perfect again?
We got to try several lattes made by the famous barista Heather Perry and she gave us some crucial tips to make Iced Lattes at home. I now use her tips! So if you are like me and love to drink iced lattes even though it’s 40º outside where you live read on!
Tips for making iced lattes:
- Use a cold press. I didn’t even have one before this so I got one and it comes out delicious! Of course you can use an expresso machine too but this is an excellent option.
- Make a coffee concentrate. I use about 2 spoons for one cup of hot water. I get 2 lattes out of it.
- You can refrigerate the coffee for up to week. It wont taste bad if you use it for an iced latte, don’t do this if you want to drink a hot latte though.
- For better taste use freshly ground coffee beans. We now have a grinder and it really makes the difference, it does taste like the lattes I buy in coffee shops. If you don’t have a grinder, buy a little amount at the store, not more than the amount you would use for 1 week.
I fill the glass with ice to the rim because when the hot coffee comes it will melt a whole lot, I then pour the milk and I drink it mostly without any other flavor but during this event we got to try many flavored ones and one of my favorites was the Coconut Cream one so here is the recipe in case you want to try it.
Now tell me, I’m not the only one that drinks her latte cold all the time right?
