Playing with food over here is something that we do often. For example when we make creations like these ones I’m showing you today.
Kids love string cheese as a regular and on-the-go snack plus it’s high in calcium and a good source of protein. And since creating and using our imagination doesn’t cost a thing, it’s perfect to make fun snacks like these.
I had my plan of making several summer creations like flip flops, pool floats and other things with the Frigo® Cheese Heads® String Cheese but when I made them they didn’t look very good. So the three of us just sat and let the creativity flow with the ingredients available and the result were these cute boats!
Everyone made their own little boat creation, for example Adri wanted to add cargo to his and Maya designed the one with two sticks. These little cheese and veggie boats are a cool activity for kids and/or can also be made by an adult as a snack/appetizer served at a party, they are super cute and healthy!
Here is the recipe that is not complicated at all, if you make it, show me!
Ingredients:
- Frigo® Cheese Heads® String Cheese Original
- Red, orange and yellow bell peppers cut into small sticks
- Celery cut into sticks 2 to 3 inches long
- Blueberries
- Small wooden picks
- Cross cut some of the string cheese in small pieces and peel some others to make small sticks.
- To make the celery “boats” stand straight make a full length cut on the bottom so that the bottom is straight instead of curvy.
- Poke blueberries, string cheese and bell peppers through the wooden picks in any order you like.
- Attach one end of the pick to the celery boat, add some cheese cargo if desired!
- Queso Frigo® Heads® String Cheese original
