Recently we did a really cool roadtrip here in California, I told you about it here and gave you some tips for you to make your own special family roadtrip too. Today I want to tell you and show photos of a tiny bit of the trip that we loved.
We stopped at these dunes on the coast in Malibu, we didn’t know they existed, the truth is we’ve never seen pictures or heard of them. We left Los Angeles and our goal was to reach the city of Ventura, driving along the coast, this highway is called Pacific Coast Highway or PCH. At the point we reached the sand dunes we were already looking for a place to stop like a beach or in some viewpoint and suddenly we saw the giant sand dunes.
The mountain didn’t look sooo big to me but there were other cars parked and people going up so we decided to stop and check it out (following my tip to improvise, which is something I love love love to do! Improvise!!!! Yes!). Well, when we got off the car the mountain did look huge!
I just saw it and said no, we can’t go up! LOL! (Look at where my improvisation lead to!) Besides it was quite windy. Adrian was the happiest though! He was the first one to take his shoes and sweater off and went up almost running! If you look at the pictures when we’re all going up you can see a dot leading the way, well, that’s him. Mayita thought about it a little more but she did climb. At the end we got up there and let me tell you, it was hard!! It’s a huge workout because you are climbing on sand, your body weighs so much more, but we did it!!
At the top the view is beautiful and everything looks so small, it is so worth it! Also going down is super fun. Adrian did not want to leave, he climbed up and ran down part of the mountain several times, I think it was his favorite part of the trip, he asked to stop by again on our way back but we didn’t have time for it.
If you ever go on a roadtrip along the California coast, you have to stop and enjoy these fun and beautiful dunes. They are before Point Mugu and Thornhill Broome Beach going up North.

MEDANOS EN FRENTE DE LA PLAYA EN MALIBU
Hace poco que hicimos un viaje muy chévere en carro aquí en California, les conté aquí en el blog y les di tips para que ustedes hicieran su propio viaje especial con la familia también. Bueno hoy les quiero contar y enseñar fotos de un pedacito chiquito del viaje que nos fascinó.
Son estos médanos que se encuentran en la costa en Malibu, nosotros no sabíamos que existían, la verdad nunca los había visto en fotos y no había oído hablar de ellos. Salimos de Los Angeles y nuestra meta era llegar a la ciudad de Ventura, manejando por toda la costa, esa carretera se llama Pacific Coast Highway o PCH. Ya estábamos buscando donde pararnos a una de las playitas o en algún mirador y de repente vimos esta montañota de arena.
No se veía tan grande pero si habían otros carros parados y gente subiendo así que decidimos pararnos a ver que tal (siguiendo mi tip de improvisar, lo cual es algo que a mi me encanta!!!! Improvisar, si!). ¡Pues ya cuando nos bajamos la montaña se veía inmensa!
Yo apenas vi dije, no, no subamos! jajaja! Aparte había bastante viento. Adrian fue el más feliz! El enseguida fue el primerito en subir, se quitó sus zapatos y su sueter y subió casi corriendo! Si se fijan en las fotos que tomé cuando subía el se ve lejísimo de primero. La Mayita lo pensó un poquito más pero si subió. A la final llegamos arriba y déjenme decirles, eso fue dificil!! El ejercicio es tremendo porque estás pisando en la arena, te pesa el cuerpo mucho, pero llegamos!!
La vista al llegar arriba es hermosa y todo se ve tan chiquito, vale la pena! Además bajar es super divertido. Adrian no se quería de ir ahí, subió y bajó corriendo parte de la montaña varias veces, gozó un mundo y pidió que nos paráramos de regreso.
Si alguna vez van de viaje en carro por la costa de California, les recomiendo se paren en estos médanos divertidos y bonitos. Quedan antes de Point Mugu y de la playa llamada Thornhill Broome si van hacia el norte.

April 18, 2016 at 8:33 amThis is by far one of the best places to hang with friends, have great drinks (amazing beer selection), eat some great food, including the great lunch I had at venues here. Prices are very reasonable and the pizza was awesome.
