Summer nights here are very enjoyable, we feel like having an outdoor family dinner on the patio a lot, even though we don’t do it always, we’ve been taking advantage of quite a bit.

Today I’ll show you a family dinner I organized the other day out there.

This was really a regular weekend night but for us, it felt kind of fancy and the details made it feel special. We have done it several times (with different foods) since then and LOVED it!

THE PERFECT LIGHT

The first thing that helps to make a cozy set-up is the lighting. When you have them all around the setting in different colors and sizes it helps spread nice light and warmth.

A SPECIAL MENU

I thought about hanging a written menu like if it was a restaurant or event. The kids helped to write down what we were serving, they each took turns and they loved doing that.

BUFFET STYLE

For us, having a buffet style dinner is kind of fancy because I usually serve dinner on each of their plates and they don’t get to choose, so this is an idea I like doing for any meal outdoors. And of course, if it’s something they love like hot dogs even better!

For the hot dogs, I set up some toppings which they could choose from like cheese, green onions, tomatoes, and sauces. I also served veggies and fruits to snack on and of course french fries! For dessert, I made mini muffins.

We ate, chatted and enjoyed the cozy night, we didn’t want it to finish! At the end of the day, these memories that we make are the greatest gifts these nights give us!! I love to hear the kids talk to each other about how fun was the day Mami made the hot dog buffet, priceless!

UNA CENA EN EL PATIO, EN FAMILIA Y MUY ACOGEDORA

Las noches de verano aquí son muy ricas, casi siempre nos provoca comer afuera en el patio, y aunque no lo hacemos siempre, si le sacamos provecho bastante.

Hoy les muestro una cenita familiar que hice el otro día. Fue algo simple pero uno que otro detallito ayudó a que se sintiera especial. La hemos hecho otras veces después de esta y ha sido un éxito!

LA LUZ PERFECTA

Lo primero que ayuda mucho a que se sienta acogedor el patio es la iluminación. Porsupuesto que puse varias de las antorchas de TIKI Brand.

Usé una de las grandes de cerámica para la mesa (tabletop Firepieces) y puse las otras en mesitas adicionales. Cuando se usan varias a la vez se ven super lindas de distintos colores, eso ayuda muchísimo al ambiente acogedor.

UN MENÚ ESPECIAL

Se me ocurrió colgar un menú con lo que íbamos a ofrecer para la cena y decirle a los niños que me ayudaran a escribirlo. Esto les gustó mucho y los dos participaron escribiendo partes del menú.

HAZ LA CENA TIPO BUFFET

Otra cosa que hace sentir más “fancy” la cena es que cada quien pueda servirse lo que quiera tipo buffet, porque como la cena es siempre normal y a cada quien se le sirve su plato practicamente, el estilo buffet los niños se sienten con más libertad. Bueno, claro está que el hacer una cena de perros calientes también ayuda mucho porque eso es algo que les encanta!

Yo puse varios toppings para los perros, puse queso rallado, tomates, cebollín y salsas. También lo acompañamos con papitas fritas, un bowl de vegetales y otro de frutas.

Comimos, hablamos y disfrutamos de la noche acogedora, ¡no queríamos que se acabara! Al final de todo estos recuerdos que hacemos son los regalos más grandes que estas noches nos dan!! Me encanta oírlos hablar unos con otros acerca de lo divertido que fue el día que Mami hizo el buffet de perros calientes, ¡eso no tiene precio!
