The pictures in this post give so much joy. This is exactly how I want to see my kids most of the time, out there, exploring anything they can find, learning about the world, getting their hands dirty, running, playing with dirt, I just love it!!

Although for us doing lots of outdoor activities very often is not that easy.

As the kids get older they also have their own vision of what they want to do during the day which it’s usually staying indoors with the electronics. That’s when you feel you need to always be prepared and have a plan to promote any outdoor activity or place to go visit, we need to help them love the outdoors!

I mean, just look at these pictures again!!

My friend Vanessa (De Su Mamá) and I share very similar beliefs and feelings about motherhood and life in general, we are both raising our kids bilingual, multicultural and nature-loving, Oh! And we are both photographers!

So, we planned this playdate one day; the main goal was that it would be outdoors in a nice park or beach and a place we could take lots of photos. I think we did very well!

SOME IDEAS THAT CAN HELP KIDS LOVE OUTDOORS

My kids don’t get as excited anymore to go to a park and don’t even mention the word hike! I call outings like this adventures. I say we are going on an adventure today and we’ll be meeting so and so. When they have friends around they enjoy it more plus they get more creative out there, they start helping one another as well.

Sometimes just the two of them is good too. I think as long as it’s not a routine where we go to the same park all the time they are good.

During our hike on this wonderful park, they found lots of sticks and they decided to grab some for walking, while we took the photos we told them to act like they were powerful and strong and make this strong arrrgh noise. They really liked that and I felt that helped them enjoy the adventure even more (Check out Maya’s photo where she is looking at the camera kind of playful and powerful at the same time!).

TAKING TIME TO WONDER AROUND

As adults, we might focus on the hike and get to our destination but kids will probably want to just wonder! We loved wondering a little into the flowers to take photos and the kids found lots of snails; Maya loves them and she couldn’t stop playing with them and trying to make the others love them as much too!

Then she decided to make a special shrine for the snails, I call it nature sculpture (see the last photo). That is such a great idea to do with kids while outdoors!

Also, the combination of a small hike plus a playground at the end helped in this case, there was a variety of things to do! I’m so happy how this went and I realized how by taking them in this fun playdate and to many others that we’ve been I am helping them love the outdoors more and more!

AYUDANDO A LOS NIÑOS A DISFRUTAR AL AIRE LIBRE

Las fotos de este post me llenan el alma! Así es exactamente como quiero ver a mis hijos la mayoría del tiempo, viéndolos explorar cualquier cosa que encuentren en la naturaleza, aprendiendo sobre el mundo, ensuciándose las manos, corriendo, jugando con tierra, ¡simplemente me encanta!

Aunque a nosotros no se nos da muy fácil ir a hacer muchas actividades al aire libre a menudo.

A medida que los niños crecen, también tienen como su propia visión de lo que quieren hacer durante el día, y por lo general no es ir a explorar, muchas veces es quedarse adentro entretenidos con pantallas. Es entonces cuando sientes que necesitas estar siempre preparada y tienes que tener un plan para promocionar cualquier actividad al aire libre o lugar para visitar, ¡tenemos que ayudarlos a amar el aire libre!

Mi amiga Vanessa (De Su Mamá) y yo compartimos muchas creencias y sentimientos muy similares sobre la maternidad y la vida en general, ambas estamos criando a nuestros hijos bilingües, multiculturales y amantes de la naturaleza, ¡Ah! ¡Y las dos somos fotógrafas!

Asi que planeamos este playdate un día; el objetivo principal era que los niños compartieran al aire libre en un parque o playa bien chévere y un lugar bonito donde pudiéramos tomar muchas fotos. ¡Creo que lo hicimos bien!

ALGUNAS IDEAS QUE PUEDEN AYUDAR A LOS NIÑOS A DISFRUTAR MÁS AL AIRE LIBRE

Mis hijos ya no se entusiasman tanto al ir a un parque y ni siquiera les menciones la palabra hike. Yo les digo que vamos a una aventura y que nos vamos a encontrar con tales amiguitos. Eso sí, cuando tienen amigos, lo disfrutan más, se vuelven más creativos y comienzan a ayudarse mutuamente también.

A veces solo los dos también está bien. Creo que siempre y cuando no sea una rutina en la que vayamos al mismo parque todo el tiempo, les va bien. 

Durante nuestra caminata por este maravilloso parque, encontraron muchos palos y decidieron agarrarlos para caminar, mientras tomamos las fotos les dijimos que actuaran como si fueran poderosos y fuertes, y que conquistaron al lugar, y les dijimos que hicieran como arrgh, eso les fascinó  y sentí que les ayudó a disfrutar aún más de la aventura (¡Miren la foto de Maya en la que ella mira la cámara como juguetona y fuerte!).

TOMARSE EL TIEMPO PARA PASEAR SIN APURO

Como adultos muchas veces nos enfocamos en llegar a nuestro destino, pero los niños probablemente querrán ir lento y ver todas las cositas que encuentran. A nosotos nos encantó pasear un poco por las flores para tomar fotos y los niños encontraron muchos caracoles; Maya los ama y no podía dejar de jugar con ellos e intentar que los demás también los amen!

Maya tmabién decidió hacer como un santuario especial para los caracoles, yo lo llamo una escultura de naturaleza (ve esta última foto). ¡Es una gran idea para hacer con los niños mientras están al aire libre!

Además, la combinación de una pequeña caminata con unos columpios ayudó en este caso, hubo variedad de cosas que hacer. Estoy muy feliz de cómo nos fue en este playdate y me di cuenta de que al llevarlos a lugares así como este y como otros que hemos ido les estoy ayudando a amar el aire libre cada vez más!
