I get so excited when I learn about a new bilingual App, specially if it has a character that the kids already know, that makes them want to use it more and more! And I’m picky of the apps I let them use.
When I heard about this new App Wubbzy’s Train Adventure from the famous character Wubbzy and that it is in Spanish I jumped right at it. The App is aimed for kids 4 to 7. I let Maya try it first (she’s going to be 4 next February) and she was able to figure it out easily. She can’t read the story but the fact that there are so many things in there to do kept her interested for a while.
Here are some of the features it has that I like (And I’ll tell you at the end what’s my favorite part!!):
- Mini-games within the story.
- 3 reading modes: Just a Book for quiet reading time, Read to Me and Read & Play
- Suggestions for parents to ask the kids and establish a discussion after the story is read.
- Easy coloring pages.
- Music videos
I LOVE the fact that is is made by two Latina, bilingual moms who feel that it is important to give their children ways to engage in the language and foster their interest in learning and speaking Spanish: Cupcake Digital executives Jennifer Powers and Carmen Hernandez.
And even though it might be a simple thing, my favorite part is that when selecting each color on the drawing mode, the app will speak out the name of the color so when Maya was using it I heard her repeat the names of the colors in Spanish!!! It was SO cute! Maya understands Spanish perfectly but doesn’t want to speak it and when I keep asking her to say for example rosado (pink in spanish) and she won’t, she says: it’s pink mami! So hearing her say colors in Spanish on her own is huge and I’m sure this helps many other kids!!

There are many apps that have other languages and we don’t know about it. If I didn’t get this opportunity through the blog, I wouldn’t of known otherwise! I super recommend it!

A mi me emociona mucho cuando me entero de una app que es bilingüe y además que tiene personajes famosos que a los niños les encanta porque así le prestan más atención. Y es que yo soy maniática en cuanto a qué aplicaciones los dejo usar.
Cuando escuché de esta app Wubbzy y el tren loco del personaje famoso Wubbzy y que además está en Español entonces enseguida quise hacerle reseña aquí en el blog. Esta app es para niños de 4 a 7 años. Dejé que Maya la probara primero, ( ella tiene 3 y cumple 4 en Febrero del año que viene) y pudo descifrarla muy bien con un poquito de mi ayuda. Ella no puede leer el cuento que es básicamente de lo que se trata todo pero hay tantas cosas más que trae que estuvo entretenida.
Aquí están las características que tiene que me gustan (Y al final les cuento mi parte favorita!):
- Mini-juegos dentro del cuento.
- 3 modos de lectura: Sólo como libro normal, Léeme y Lée y juega.
- Sugerencias para padres al final a manera de hacer preguntas y establecer conversación con los niños acerca de la historia.
- Páginas para colorear.
- Videos musicales.
Me ENCANTA que esta app está hecha por dos latinas que son mamás bilingües que sienten que es importante darle a sus niños maneras de involucrar el español y de que se interesen y sigan aprendiéndolo. Sus nombres: Jennifer Powers y Carmen Hernandez, ejecutivas de la empresa Cupcake Digital.
Y aunque parezca sencillo pero mi parte favorita de la app es que cuando se está en las páginas de colorear, cada vez que hay que escoger un color, hay una voz que dice el nombre del color entonces cuando Maya estaba pintando la escuchaba decir los colores en español!!!! De verdad que me encanta porque el asunto es que Maya entiende el español al 100% pero no lo quiere hablar y cuando le pido que diga palabras como por ejemplo rosado, ella me dice: No mami, it’s pink! (rosado en inglés) Así que eso es una ayuda tremenda y segurito que hay otros niños que también les ayudará!

aquí y aunque el título es en inglés no se preocupen que ya cuando bajas la app pides el español y ya. Hay muchas apps que traen otros idiomas que uno ni sabe, si no me entero por el blog ni me hubiera dado cuenta que esta tiene español! Se las recomiendo mucho!
