That’s how Adrian described this last weekend.
It was the end of the day on Sunday, we were having dinner and he said: Mami, this was the best weekend ever! We agreed but we still asked: Oh yeah? Why?
It’s so so nice when the kids express their feelings with words without us poking and asking so much, so hearing great things like this is music to our ears.
He went on and explained why… I got to play with Matias on Friday night, then I went to his birthday party on the beach, then I went on a boat then I played with Nathan and then I went in the pool!
It was a busy weekend, we had a birthday party and a fun outing, maybe just 2 things but for Adrian it was the best because first he had a friend over to play on Friday night, then on Saturday that same friend had his birthday party and it was on the beach.
We’ve never been to a kid’s birthday party at the beach and let me tell you, it was awesome! It was simple really, sand toys, balls, long balloons that flew and had to be followed, good food and a small fire to make S’mores at night, adults and kids had a great time. We stayed until the end! Too bad both of our kids have birthdays in the winter and it would be too cold to celebrate it at the beach because I would love to.
On Sunday we had the opportunity to take a cruise all around the San Diego Bay with the Flagship Cruises. It was such a nice day, perfect for the outing. First time ever that kids were on a boat, Adrian liked it and even though Maya was not too excited about I think the experience was great for both. Right after the cruise we dropped off Adrian at another friend’s house to play for a while, then when he came back home, we did some chores, relaxed and Derek took the kids to the pool and jacuzzi for a little bit.
We have had weekends like this before, were the activities are fun for all of us but never has Adrian said it was the best weekend ever. I think that even if there are lots of fun activities in our day we might not be enjoying them 100% sometimes, and it really depends on us, how much fun are we willing to have. That’s what I saw in Adrian this weekend, and that made me think and learn.
I learned that we can always have the best weekend, the best day or the best night if we leave the door open for the moment! What has been the best time you’ve had lately?

¡EL MEJOR FIN DE SEMANA DEL MUNDO!
Así fue como Adrian describió este fin de semana pasado.
El domingo, al final del día, estábamos cenando y me dijo suspirando: Mami, este fue ¡el mejor fin de semana de mi vida! Nosotros estuvimos de acuerdo, pero de todas maneras le preguntamos: Ah, sí? ¿Y por qué?
Es tan tan chévere cuando los niños solitos nos expresan sus sentimientos con palabras sin andar uno preguntando mucho, así que escuchar este tipo de cosas es música para mis oídos.
Adri continuó y explicó porqué… Dijo: Tuve chance de jugar con Matías el viernes en la noche, después me fui a su fiesta de cumpleaños en la playa, después me monté en un barco, después jugué con Nathan y por último me metí en la piscina!
Fue un fin de semana medio ocupado, tuvimos una fiesta de cumpleaños y un paseo divertido, pero para Adrian fue el mejor porque primero un amigo vino a jugar el viernes con él, después el sábado ese mismo amigo tenía su fiesta de cumpleaños y fue en la playa.
Nunca habíamos ido a una fiesta de cumpleaños de un niño en la playa y déjenme decirles que fue cheverísima! Fue bastante sencilla la verdad, juguetes para la arena, pelotas, globos largos que volaban y había que perseguir, comidita y un fuego para hacer S’mores en la nochesita; los adultos y los niños nos la pasamos todos muy bien. ¡Nosotros nos quedamos hasta el final! Lástima que Adri y Maya tienen cumpleaños en el invierno y sería demasiado frío para celebrarlo en la playa porque me gustaría.
El domingo tuvimos la oportunidad de tomar un crucero alrededor de la bahía de San Diego con los cruceros Flagship, fue un día perfecto para el paseo, muy lindo. Primera vez en la vida que los niños se montaron en un barco, a Adrian le gustó y a Mayita no mucho pero igual creo que la experiencia fue buena para los dos. Luego vendré con todos los detalles de ese paseo! *Actualización: Aquí están todos los detalles del paseo por la bahía!
Justo después del crucero llevamos a Adrian a casa de otro amigo para jugar por un rato, luego cuando regresó a la casa descansamos, hicimos deberes y Derek llevó a los niños a la piscina y jacuzzi por un ratico.
Hemos tenido fines de semana como este antes donde las actividades son divertidas para todos nosotros, pero nunca Adrian había dicho que es el mejor fin de semana del mundo. Creo que muchas veces aunque estemos haciendo un montón de actividades divertidas a lo mejor no lo gozamos al 100%, realmente depende de nosotros mismos el disfrutar de verdad verdad. Esto fue lo que vi en Adrian este fin de semana, y me hizo pensar y aprender.
Aprendí que siempre podemos tener el mejor fin de semana del mundo, el mejor día del mundo o la mejor noche del mundo si realmente nos damos permiso y estamos abiertos a ello. ¿Cuál ha sido el mejor momento que has tenido tu últimamente?

April 8, 2015 at 11:51 amDariela….esos son los mejores cumpleaños. De hecho….hacerlos en la naturaleza es lo mejor, es lo que siempre hacemos en casa. Pero el más especial fue el de los cinco de Lucas que fue en una playa escondida (había que abrir con llave y todo) en un lugar tan virgen de mi islita de Puerto Rico. Fueron los amigos más cercanos y primos y fue una experiencia innolvidable. Se nota que gozaron mucho. La playa estaba bellísima.
Eso de no tener horario, ni programa en los cumpleaños me parece la experiencia más liberadora. Jugar y jugar es el plan.
